just installed sp2 on my pc everthing installed but when it rebooted it stop on the windows xp home part and thats it nothing will work

 

i had the3 same prob is your copy of xp a real one the only way i could do it was to load it up on safe mode and reinstall the first edition i personally dont like sp2

 

are you getting any error messages ?

if not i bet your installing from a DVD drive is that a good guess ?

 

yeah if your are installing from A dvd drive you can run the software from that drive you just need to set you boot drive

 

getting no errors and am runnig it from dvd drive how do i set boot drive

i cant quite remember you press f2 or f12 which ever one for your set up when the computer swithces on then you go to boot up opions and slect run from the drive and that should hopefully be you

the BIOS in some systems look for a optical CD drive and do not boot correctly a DVD drive, these systems usually have a boot menu which you access by pressing F11 or similar (its a F Key or Function Key) and select the DVD as the first boot.

If you have installed SP2 on a Windows Installation that was allready installed and running prior to SP2 you should be able to access Windows in safe mode by pressing F8 as it is booting and selecting Safe Mode from the option menu...Once you have entered Windows try closing it don and booting it normally, if this does not work you may be able to remove SP2 in safe mode

 

what he said if you cant get on then hit safe mode and get rid of it as i say i dont think its that good anyway

 

think its sorted just installed it and it rebooted without any cheers
