Default AVG messing up Outlook Express?

My old dear use Outlook Express for her email, and more and more these days it won't allow any incoming messages to come in... I've tried fucking around with it loads and nothing, then played with AVG and lo and behold it started letting messages in. I have to go to the control centre for AVG, and unselect the email scanner plugin, and generally mess around with it, and then re-open Outlook and it works. Typically this will work from then on, but then when PC is rebooted or shut down/booted up again, it goes back to square one...

And it's doing my fucking nut in having to fix this all the time! I tried explaining to her how to do it but she's a technophobe so it'll never sink in - took me weeks to explain how to plug in the digital camera and look at the pics!!!!!!!!! Plus when I move out, I do not want phone calls every day about "making the email work"

So is there something I can do here? Cos if I simply turn off the email scanner, it disables AVG, so I might aswell not have it, which is no good as I don't trust my old dear to know what is or isn't a dodgy link etc, and my sister is more than likely to download something with a virus in it....

Idea's?

Yeah,

Download the new version of AVG Anti Virus and it'll work. I had this, it's a firewall setting that need's to be changed / edited / blown into space. I spent hour's ploughing through different settings to no avail

I don't have it... but you should be able to set that option via a file on the harddrive or going inot the registry and setting it there.

But in reality it should be saving the config when you change it and exit. sound slike a pooched install so an upgrade or re-install may help.
