Default Whats this please?





Can anyone let me no what part of computer this is and what it does as my pc has died it came up with power surge on screen and i could smell burning i switched off and it does not work now took pc apart and this is the bit thats smells like its been burning.... is it hard to fix as ive got load pics i had on computer i need???

The bit in the top pic is the psu(power supply unit).


Cheap to get a new one and easy to install it.

Im not sure if it would have caused anything else to bugger up when the psu went bang though? get a new psu and put that in and try it.

Whats the spec of the machine?

i wouldn't advise getting a cheap power supply though
go for one about 50 notes,good warranties and all that
its one of the most underated components of a computer

Nor would i but thats the reason i asked what spec his machine was, because if its a crappy one then theres no point getting a nice 500+watt psu is there

i already own a 485 enermax coolergiant exactly like the pic below


always had a fancy for one of these but can't be arsed with gamin machines no more

Its not a high spec pc ive just bought a lap top now anyway but will get a cheap 1 see if that sorts it out so i can get all my pics off it as will be pissed off if i lose them

get one of these fella ...these psu's were a lot of moola when released
now they are an absolute steal at Ł22.20 should be 7 pound delivery
got all yer protective under/overcurrent gubbins and a 3 yr warranty
high quality power supply...so you get your bang for buck ..excuse the pun
