Default Another wireless network question

I have finally got myself a laptop

Both my PC and my laptop are connected wireless to my router, how can I network the 2 together so I can share files. Do I need 2 wireless network connections in each?

does your router act as a hub too? (generally they do)

you should already be able to share files. You will need to share out a folder on one machine and ensure any permissions / firewalls are configured to allow connections. - it can be a bit of a headache - sometimes best to disable any personal firewalls, get the share working. Then reenable the firewall and configure.

It works I have set up the partition of my PC as shared and mapped it as a drive on the laptop, just what I was wanting

I am a little concerned over security though. I have WEP security enabled on my router connection and as the two PC's are networked through the router des this mean they are secure. I just want to be sure that nobody can access my shared partition other than me

Yeah, basically they are secure. Although,I would just unshare the partition when not in use

if your concious of security turn broadcasting off on your router. this means the wireless network is there but you caan only see it if your connected. also make your share hidden by adding a $ to the end of the share name. again you will only be able to connect to it if you know the name of the share.

I tried turning off Wireless SSID Broadcast, and I lost my connection and had to plug into the router to change the setting back

I must be doing something wrong

make sure your not turning the wireless off completely.

you only want to turn off broadcasting.

it may take a minute for your machine to reconnect once you turn off broadcasting - especially if the router has to restart.
