Hi mate, are you sure it's cat c?there's no vic marker on the Dvla website and it's pretty surprising to see such a new car as cat c,I'd imagine it's a cat d at worst.
Have you hpi'd it?

yeah IV hpi checked it came back clear, only showed up on main dealers as cat c. I'm pretty sure a main dealer wouldn't lie or try it on?

Is there any sign of it being bumped, possibly a mistake.

i was about to say is this all they're worth now, coz i have a 07 plate identical to that with 29k on it and i paid £8200 for it last April which was a really good price at the time. That would mean ive lost £3800 in under a year on it. Fuck!!!

sounds like an error on the behalf of the vw dealer mate, I would spend £20 and do a written hpi check, as your motor is valued low if totally clear.

Certainly get more than your £20 back if clear.

CAT Cs are marked on the logbook these days, is it on your V5 as having suffered extensive damage? I'd be tempted to do a full HPI check on it if it's not.

Not always mate, only if it's been for a vic check, which is not always required for a cat c vehicle.
I'd get written confirmation from hpi fella then up the price accordingly.
And yes,I believe the vw garage would lie or certainly type the wrong info in.
Hpi offer a guarantee as well if the car turns out to be a write off/finance etc as this should have shown up with their checks.
Worth chasing up IMO.
