My St TDCi is a CAT D because of a house burglary and stolen keys. Sounds worse than it is but does affect the resale cost! If you bought it cheap then unfortunately you'll have to sell it cheap. I have the same issue.

Matt didn't buy it cheap tho fella. Also look at the amount that's been spent on it.

It would seem that on this site only cosworth and rs turbo owners are allowed to have vehicles with a problem past. It's not like some of the shitters on here that have been reshelled into base model cars and still advertised for top money .

If people don't think this car is cheap for what it is they need to step back and have a word with themselves.

13000k it costs it was stolen in 06 found soon after, it's NOT a cat d, it's recovered that's all, if the Hpi doesn't say cat d then it ain't.

Amount of car you get for the mony is crazy, makes me feel sick as it's worth loads more.

6 disc changer.
Mint heated black leather
1000 pounds worth of wheels. 2000 on brakes, 800 on zorst, list goes on and on and on.

If people don't think this car is cheap for what it is they need to step back and have a word with themselves.

Exactly, well said.it's not just this site of course but people in general,I had this years ago when I sold a car to a chap in work that was s/rec.it hadn't even got as far as the end of the road before the kids shit themselves and couldn't start it,no damage to the column either as the kids had seen the keys in the wall earlier in the day, swiped them only to realise that one key opened the door and a different one started it!!!!

I drove the car for a year and then sold it for what it owed me,it was mint yet the guy found out after I'd sold it that it was a write off ( in insurance companies eyes!!!!) even though I told him it was s/rec he went ballistic and I gave him his money back and sold it to someone else in work who drove it for years afterwards with no issues,it's physiological, get over it!!!

Does make me laugh when I see cars for sale that I know have covered at least double the mileage they show, someones been clever with the history and suddenly a 25 year old escorts done 79000 miles!!!course it has!!!!
I was told the other day my Saph was high miles at 134000,less than 7k p/a by my books, totally genuine, how the hell is that high?my 2wd had 100k on it in 2000,11 years ago!!!!
Stunning car btw, shame it's out of my league.

Also, insurance companies 90% of the time do write them off as a matter of course, wankers!!!!

So hpi should have corrected this now then if it was recovered and not paid out on?if not,get onto them.
Sorry if I upset you, honestly didn't mean to I was just pointing out that cat d is a write off, purely from a value point of view.
I've seen cat c cars cos the ashtrays are full!!!

It's not cat d then?unless the person got paid out after it was recovered saying they no longer wanted the car, then it is cat d as it's deemed uneconomical to repair.
Cat d has no impact on the severity of the accident,it's entirely up to the assessor what he decides, they could cat c a brand new car if they feel like, very unfair system.
I used to run my own bodyshop so I know this goes on.

I hope this isn't aimed at me,the car is gorgeous,no doubt but it's a very confusing advert, why state it was once a cat d,now it isn't,it was stolen, recovered by yourself and I'm assuming not paid out on so in my eyes it's not a cat d in anyway shape or form.

If it helps I'll delete the comments,I'm sorry if it's caused you any bother, but truth be told mate there's so many timewasters on here I doubt you ever sell it through this website.

I'd try it on pistonheads and not mention the theft and subsequent recovery, the cars clearly not been harmed.

what the hell are you going on about ,its you and your crap advert thats killing the sale.

cat d can be for stolen recovered also as in just a set of wheels gone missing etc and no damage whatsoever so your claim above is wrong.

look this is to help you and not wreck your kamikazi forsale ad,if the car shows as being previously stolen recovered/police interest or cat d on certain hpi's yet its not down as a cat d then get off your backside and contact the place you got the car from and get them to sort it out or contact hpi equifax direct yourself and tell them and it can be taken from the information held as its old info so any future hpi check doesn't show its been stolen and recovered etc .
On the other hand if it doesn't show up but your spilling your guts about whats happened this is the real reason the sale is not happening for you.
Like i said only trying to help !

Voughant,, I advertised the car on here, to my knowledge the car was a cat d, untill someone told me it shouldn't be. I phoned the insurance to query it, and they agreed ,, apologised for way had happend and removed the cat d.

you say cat d = slight damage repair when thats just not true as it can be stolen recovered with no actual damage just parts missing or even water damage etc

why are you mentioning about the cat d if it isn't recorded anymore and does not show on a hpi then as your shooting yourself in the foot no make that both feet ?

if you didn't spout crap i wouldn't be here putting you right

I know where your coming from fella,I just think there's little or no point mentioning it,it hasn't been paid out on therefore is not cat d.

I'd suggest binning the ad and starting again,it really is a lovely car.
