Question Sierra DOHC throttle cable replacement

Hi everyone! I'm Jimmy and I'm from Spain. This is my first time posting on here though I've read you all tons of times. I'm a mechanics student and I own a 1991 Ford Sierra Ghia by the way

So basically this is my problem: when I bought the car I firstly realized something was wrong with the tensor. I checked it out and effectively it was broken (this is kinda dangerous as you can imagine)
I decided to buy a brand-new throttle cable so I bought the First Line FKA1018 since it was the one theoretically made for the DOHC.

The only instructions ever given were, literally "1750mm long with female ball end socket (pedal)/barrel ferrule (carb/throttle body)"

As you can see, the tensor itself it's way different than the original one, so that's the beginning of my problems. Maybe I bought the wrong one?
The thing is I can't really see how it works, if you are supposed to split two parts or how to if that's the case...it's true mess.

Also, when I was determined to start mounting the cable I realized there was something wrong. The barrel in the actual throttle body it's also different (it's vertically mounted in the original one and horizontally mounted in the brand-new one, making a T) and for disassembling it everyone has told me something different so I don't really know how. Of course, I'd prefer to read your tips before I start over with it.

So that's it! Thanks everyone for reading me. I really hope someone can help me and I also hope this post is not too big or tiring or it's in the wrong place
Sorry for my English though.

Hi, seems that you bought one for a RHD car.
The cable for LHD cars has a length of 2290 mm and should look like that one on the attached pic.... hope this helps you.

Yes, you would need the longer one

The one you have bought is incorrect as it's not ball and socket

You need to remove the metal clip by pushing it off, don't lose the clip, putting some masking tape on it helps

The cable should then twist out of the plastic holder

And then run the new one

I think the T section goes on the pedal side

this looks like the same one i have on my 1.8cvh sapphire.

i'd say that by looking at this pic...

(same item number for the 2 versions...)

don't miss the black clip which keeps the cable to the throttle body spherical joint, it's gold! it does not come with the brand new cable.
if you lose it while dismantling, you'll have to order a new one.
(kinda 2 eur on the same site).

in the spare catalogue i've also seen this...

but it doesn't look like the one of yours...

good luck with it.
let us know once you got through it...

Thank you so much for all your reponses! They were all very helpful. I'm not gonna quote you all just to avoid spam and big messages.
So yes I totally bought the wrong one, and seems like it's gonna be hard to find the right one...

This one might work out well, and I really think it's the same actually but it wasn't made for my Sierra generation. Maybe I'll send them a mail.
Anyway I'm gonna post another pic tomorrow to show you what kind of tensor the cable has (which is in my opinion the biggest difference between all the cables) and the way it's broken, so maybe I could figure something else out.

Again, thank you so much to you all for your time and I'll keep posting on here!

Sorry for the lack of time, guys!
I'm bringing you some new pics. Since I haven't found the right tensor I'm honestly thinking about welding something up or try to find a new bolt that fits and modificate it a little...any ideas?

I've searched through that web a lot since this guys told me to. The stock has changed though. I think this one might fit perfectly but again, who knows?
http://www.motomobil.com/gaszug-dohc...4957890-1.html

Anyway, can you tell me that guy name or page in facebook? Just in case...

it looks like it might... it's also cheaper than the one i shown you. maybe the seller can tell you more about it.
i've also seen the stock changed. the one i reported you now is marked just for the 1.8cvh model (as far as i've seen in a quick check).

yeah, moving in that site had been quite fancy to me either.
also i speak no german too...

from that page, to find the catalogue...
-click on "ford special", hidden in the high left
-"ford sierra" (or other models)
-"mki" or "mkii" makes no difference
-"spare parts in our online shop"
-then there is the full catalogue, where you can search for part number or name (in this case i looked for "throttle cable")

sorry, maybe now it's more confusing, but i hope it helps...
good luck with your research and repair

Well, I found it, and it was broken

And then I found another one, and it wasn't

I've also found one for an automatic which has a different end fitting

The only fly in the ointment is that it's only 1400mm long so it probably won't fit your car
