Default 24v conversion - show me your fans.

Doing a 24v conversion into a Saff, using the 24v granada radiator, got some twincam 8v Sierra fans and cowling but they won't fit!

No clearance between the back of the fan and the pully's on the BOA.

I thought everyone used them?

Ken lowe fan kit too expensivo, scared of cheap E-bay slimline fans, tried some from a v6 vectra too, but no joy...

Help please

Cheers

Sounds good mate, I'd like some photographic evidence before I buy anything, just got the money to do all this once only.

no photos but ive got a bob 24v rad in my xr4x4 v6 and ive got loads of clearance.
used threaded bar into chassis legs and bolted the top on rubber bobbins, similar set up to mk1 sierra.
i think bob fans are same as mondeo v6.

Note to myself..

if the fan is siezed you can simply replace them and slot them back in again, almost the easiest thing to do on a sierra

apparently the diseasal fans used a slimmer shroud so you could always try and find them

alternativly you can also mount the rad in one of the more forward mounting holes in the chassis legs to give you more clearance if you feel the standard twinky fans aren't up to scratch room wise

the sierra's were biult to such a random standardization that what may fit on one won't fit on another car, even though the shells are identical

I broke a Sierra with the boa in quite recently and they had used the standard a/c fan from the Sierra, worked perfectly and fitted easilh with loads of clearance, it was a g plate 2.9 4x4 originally

The Granada rad fit but because it's a different shape you need longer bolts, as per the picture

Everything still fits too as the casing is the same other than the transmission cooler on the side

Excellent, thanks to everyone.

Ade, how did you get the YB rad to fit? Are they not the same as the pinto sierra rad's? I mean I know it will fit the car but will the pipes match up with the joints on the rad?

YB rad is just shorter so the intercooler can be fitted above.
