zetec s silver top knocking top end?

help i brought a zetec s and on the way home i heard a knocking noise from the top end i think any one got any ideas common faults on these models any help plz

Was a common fault, the lifters used to get jammed on silver tops unless the engine was frequently revved to 4K, have you tried changing/checking oil.

oil is full only knocks a little bit cant hear it like a bottom end.
is what you say fixable what parts would i need

As said likely the tappets, could always try some Wynns valve lifter lube first, as often works, within minutes if going to, but if not will need new tappets, might as well do set while there.

Yes but the oil may not have been changed for ages, does it look clean? has the car been sat long?

lokks clean but it was nocking before i got it so might of been replaced after knocking started, i will try the new tappets dose any one know how much they will be
