Default Transit Connect RS Project

Hi, This is my Transit connect RS project.

The van originally started life as a 1.8 petrol T200, that was soon to change though.

I've got plenty of pictures so I'll let those do the talking

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077095033/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077022179/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077095463/
The decision was to give the van a full respray in the engine bay, underneath, inside and outside.
Also it was decided that the van needed a little more poke, for the time being a 2.0 16v zetec engine would do from a focus doner car with a couple of breathing mods.

Engine bay treating and painting
http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079319906/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079319392/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079318980/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077091789/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077091385/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077090465/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077090019/
Test fit of the zetec lump

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077089001/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079314492/
It was better to get the dash out and get everything wired up, using a mixture of the connect and focus loom so the Traction control, electric windows etc worked.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079313492/
Managed to get it running so attention was moved to the underside

Rear Axle removed for modification and to allow the underneath to be painted

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079314034/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9077086999/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079312350/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079311644/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9079310938/

So after many many hours of work the connect was perfect, apart from it needed more power.

Introducing plan B

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048477875/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050714308/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048478847/
So it began

Connect pulled in the garage for some heart surgery

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050701620/
Goodbye zetec

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048468593/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048463053/
The dash was also pulled out so it was possible to adapt the focus RS loom, while the dash was out it was sent for flocking

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048465783/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048474347/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048473175/
Wiring looms

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048482539/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048481703/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050692262/
Some well needed fuel

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050690350/
So getting cracked on, time to get the Focus RS box mated back up with its brother

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048475197/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048461293/
Some of the goodies to go on the engine

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048485851/http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9048483349/
FMIC

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050685172/

Nice fit in the bay

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050686074/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050680268/
Dash back in and Focus RS clocks added. Also a scanguage was built in to the top pod

http://www.flickr.com/photos/97514935@N03/9050676862/

Thanks for all who've taken the time to have a look.

I'd just like to say a massive thank you to Frank and his dad at FGW motor body repair specialists for all of their hard work and time that has gone into the van and being there to give a hand when I couldn't figure things out. If anyone is looking for some work on their van give Frank a call on 07921121190

Here is the finished spec list of the van, I'm looking to sell the van as I've done all that I wanted to do to it now, I'm after Ł11,000 OVNO, I can be contacted on 07957441960

Thats well smart. It just needs the wheels to be silver cause its hard to see them.Did the focus rs loom just plug into parts of the van or did you have to join wires.

Looks vantastic

First transit connect i've seen with a flocked dash!

proper sleeper as it looks like a well looked after van.

wonder what the 0-60 time is on that compared to a focus rs running the same power

Not 100% sure what the next project is might have somthing to do with bricks and a house lol.Been putting off for ages but am sure a can sly another one in there.

A think a focus with the same power would be quicker just because of the aero side of it but weight wise there not much different with the van now been down to 1310kg.If your wanting more of a laugh the van is always the way to go

Stunning project mate ! , what a lovely conversion

I think the first time I saw this was kicking around wessy way at sunderland , glinting in the sun earlier in the year , I nearly snapped my neck trying to get a look at it

Then seen it at croft this year parked up [got a couple of pics infact] , looks absouloutley spot on ! , a credit to yourself mate. Id love to see peoples faces as you leave them in a connect worth 11 grand for that alone

Look forward to seeing your next project mate - nice one

Bummer, I bet you could have done a deal with him before he put it on eBay aswell.

Even though Geoff says its his last one, it won't be. He said the same thing after he built the second one lol

I did ask before he put it on eBay but was better for me to sell it privately.

I'm sure he'll do another one, awesome conversions.

Hey man! I'm absolutely enamored with the project! Can I ask you what the name of the paint or the paint code for the wheel arches is? I really liked that grey.
