Thanks lads it means a lot to me . Looking back at it I'm so glad I'v stuck with this car as I'v Sean lots of them started and never finished . It is a on going car and there is all way some thing I have in mind for it . More updates by the weekend as I'm sitting out side the welders as there on dinner hour :-(
But wot I will say is I'm keeping a price list of wot it's costing to do this mod myself and a the mo I'm at at Ł360. Gear box Ł300 rear prop Ł60 . cutting up bell housing / jig / milling all free as I'v done all that my self . And I'm not joking I think I can do the hole gear box in the car and working 4x4 for about Ł1400 .

More work today as I'm on holiday . The bell housings have been tacked togever today by a good mate Shep .

This is when we got a good look at the gap ware the two bell housing don't match to well so I popped round to see the welders that will be doing the welding job they said the case would bend big time if they try to weld the gap up so I'v made a filler up tonight . This is the gap

Name: photo2_zps63dfece7.jpg

With the filler plate

Size: 73.2 KB

Name: photo3_zps6c038d15.jpg
Views: 158

I'v all so made a plate to fill ware the old clutch arm went as this won't be being used again

Name: photo5_zps1c703861.jpg
Views: 122
Size: 76.2 KB

I'v all so made a plate for inside the bell housing as we did talk about this at the welders as we are wured that the welds will pull it out of shape

Name: photo4_zps9e5c87d8.jpg
Views: 106
Size: 103.4 KB

All so befor it was tacked togever me and Rex was looking at the bell housing and the way it was we would never be a bull to get two of the bolts in the way it was so I put the case back on the miller and sorted it

Size: 88.1 KB

Name: photo2_zps47dde811.jpg
Views: 126

It's going back to the welders tomorrow but as they have told me they have a lot on at the mo so it Won't be till next week some time befor I get it back witch is ok with me as there doing it as a cash job

Thanks Glenn . Its a shame but there are to many cars that lads start then it gets to the stage ware it's not plug and play any more so they give up on them . Look at your car a lot of lads would of just given up on it but you stuck with it and all the problems and now look at it it's a very nice Saff all thanks to you . People have to remember these thing are very trying some times on family's as well as I'v lost a wife over this car . And I mean a devours but the car is still here and and the wife has gone thank god lol

I think a lot of people these days just go out and buy a fast car like a M3 or an Evo. I would rather have something different. There was a thread in the gd section the other day about mk3/4 escorts converted to rear wheel drive. Some people were slating them. If im honest I would love one cause I think there cool as fook.

Thanks for the commemt about my saff. I feel like im doing my bit to keep another saff cossie on the road. Ok its not the mintest but it gets used.

You will need a few more amps than you have to weld a case that big Marc.
Used a 3phase transtig to do mine.

Hi mark nothing in per tickler just nice to see how you went about yours . I can see you had to fill in the top ware the skyline box sticks up more that was a place on my castings I was not to happy about so I cut the casting and heated it up and bent it down then re milled it to get the size right again . Did you hav much of a mis alinment at the bottom of the casting like I did

Looking good mate. I did think about this route but havnt got the know how or work space. So 1400 with you doing your work that would be close to 3k to a customer bolted up with mods to the tunnel youd say?
This is what made me go opligger route 3k also. A great conversion though pal and cheap if you can do it yourself
Mark hows my supra rear diff conversion kit comming on

Bit of a update on the car and gear box . First off we did a track day at donnington park on Sunday and wot a day we had the car was in real on the track we have some small problems with it in corners we are putting it down to not having a ARB on the front of the car it has a 4x4 set up on the rear so we had to try to sort it out on the shocks witch did help and letting the tyres down a bit but all in it went very well

Any way Rex went round to the welders today and got the skyline bell housing back for me so tonight it went back togever and as I'v now got the front prop we might start removing the old gear box soon and start fitting the new box I'v still got to sort the clutch arm out but that should not be to hard to sort out

Thanks mate it did get a bit of atenshion in the pits

As for the gear stick I don't no . If you look at Martin,s and graham C cars there not that bad at all I no it dose go back a bit but not 100% shower how much yet . If you look at mt75 box the gear change all most hangs off the back so we will just have to see the weekend when we start pulling stuff out of the focos lol

Quick Reply: (COLEYST200) focus to focos / skyline gear box
