Default Whats it worth?

Hi All, I have a friend who has a friend going through a divorce. Basically they're now going through the process of deciding what possessions to sell and what to keep. Yesterday I was shown some pictures of a bog standard, 43,000 mile, one owner 3 door Cosworth in white which has been in storage at the back of a double garage. Although I can see a very old tax disc in the window the car hasn't been driven in the last 8 years but looks like its in showroom condition. I've suggested they try and consider keeping it as an investment but what would be the going rate given the condition. Sorry before anybody asks I haven't got any pics but I don't think they would do it justice anyway. Thanks very much in advance

Some cracking offers!!....I offered a loving environment for the car to live in but they wouldn't have any of it...odd as I thought that was a cracking deal I appreciate some in a less than positive state must be around 5-7k, I've noticed some really nice examples (some very well restored) between 8k and 15k but wonder what something with such low miles would fetch.??, don't get me wrong its not an RS500 which seem to carry silly price tags but still on the face of it, it sounds like a lovely find...

Several ways to look at this.

If car is mint but not been driven for 8 years then it will cost several thousand to recomission it back for the road. Brakes, engine, pipes etc would all need attention.
Are all the panels genuine, does all the glass match etc
Was the storage dry? If not corrosion would be an issue etc.
Assume it needs to be recommisioned price around £10K at a blind value.
If the car was ready to run then you could be looking around £14K - £17K, but depends on buyers.

When cars are of this age it can be more important to buy on condition rather than mileage

But decent photos would be needed to say for sure

Thanks very much for the detailed response...I'm sure you have a Moonstone 3 door for sale...if its the one I think it is I would happily snap that up if I had the money, it looks stunning! I'll have a chat with my friend tomorrow and see if she can get some pics for me to upload...All the best

Gotta be well over 10 grand if its genuine unmolested example with history and clear of the tin worm .Probably at there best value point at the moment too. Would be a long wait for the time it jumps up another level in values imo.
