general engine loom questions
Hi, I have a strange question here, regarding the engine loom off a sapphire cosworth.
I've been reading about the engine loom differences between the 2wd and 4wd. The car I got my engine from was a 2wd, but had a L8 ecu on it, no closed loop.
Sometimes the car is running a bit off, but it does not missfire or anything, it just seems to be holding back. At other times is seems to be running fine, which leads me to believe it might have a loom issue.
So the question is can you simply plug in a L8 ecu and it works fine, or do any of the sencors need rewiring, changing etc. and what would be the next thing to check?

TPS must be rewired and ideally should be changed.
L8 uses a PF09 in stead of the PF01 the L1 and L6 uses.

I've read this, but the way it says the throttle sencor is connected, I dont need to change it, as the indivisual wires end up in the right place on the ecu, regardless of ecu type.
The other thing would be that having it wired wrong, shouldn't the car not work properly at all?
Thanks
EDIT:whoops just seen the graphs for the output, makes sence really,
but still surely it should not work at all, right?

Ok I got a pf09 tps, and I switched the wires on the plug, and now it idles at 2500. When I disconnect the iscv, then it drops to 1000.
Because I'm not sure about the connection being right, does anyone know the colors the wires are?
According to the diagram on http://bigturbo.co.uk/main4.htm mine are :
red
black with red stripe
brown

Might be off the mark here but I would check the crank pulley woodruff keyway to see if it's worn I've had a customer with the same problem loss of power on occasion changed loom etc turned out the crank was worn and pulley was loose.
If you can pull the pulley off by hand its too loose.

Check the TPS output, 4x4 (L8) the reading should increase with throttle, sounds like you may have swapped the wires round the wrong way.
You should have swapped the two outer wires, but like I say checking the output will verify if it's correct or not.

I only switched the outer two wires, but the weird thing is that the car now idles at 2500.
If the wires are wrong, (checked the wiring diagram and I think they are right) would it explain the raised idle?
thanks
