Please Help, 1st time cosworth owner!
Hi guys, this is obviously my first post here on these forums, I have recently purchased a 1988 Sierra Cosworth RS Sapphire. Here in New-Zealand these cars are pretty hard to come by and mine is in mint~pristine condition.
The car is basically at stage 3+ if compared to the Norris Motorsport Stage system. Now I have a problem. The car has been running perfectly but this evening I took it for a drive and once it reached running temp it started to 'stall,' I have been to my mechanic and he has narrowed it down to what he thinks is the ignition system. When I say it starts at operating temp I will put it out there that the car runs perfectly fine whilst warming up even under load. It also idles fine.
Its very hard to explain what it is doing but picture driving at 2,000rpm, putting your foot down and having the car 'surge' or 'stall' it keeps running but it is like it is not getting spark. It is especially bad when under load (I.e going up a hill) The car is not blowing any smoke and the ignition system is all relatively new (Magnelli Coil, Distributor, 8.5mm leads and the reccomended Ford Plugs)
Any help or hints as to what this could be would be greatly appreciated. I am going to change the plugs tomorrow and see if it changes anything.
Cheers Guys,
P.S: Ill upload some pics of it soon

Also could be ya ECT sensor, does it eventually stop running on tick over when warm and total lack of power/ pick up? The 071 ford plugs are ok for stg3 but as said need changing reg.

Cheers for the quick replies guys, all fixed, turned out to be fouled spark plugs, chucked in some new 071's and all is good now, also gave the Crank Position Sensor? a clean, had a small amount of gunk on it.
Running heaps better now to, rev's a bit higher without detonating.
This seems like a great forum, once again, cheers
