Bit of a strange one this and possibly very stupid

but, a lot of Saphs I look at seem to have the front wheels sitting quite far forward in the wheel arches rather than in the centre like the back wheels. Others I have looked at don't have this.

Is this a normal feature or a sign of something not right?

I'll try and find pics of what I'm on about if needed.

No idea tbh. I've attached pics of my 4x4. The first pic was when i bought it (totally standard), the second is now (koni's, lowered 35mm and diamond cuts).

To me in both pictures the wheel looks central!!

Normally, it is the poly-bushed cars that sit forward a bit in the arch IMHO.

Where the poly-bush is thicker than the standard rubbish one, it moves the tca forward slightly in relation to the anti-roll bar stop that the bush normally sits against.

It is only a couple of mm @ most, but it LOOKS worse.

Well mine sit closer 2 the front of the arches n i havent got any modified suspension or poly bushes on mine.

on my freinds 2wd saff someone had put a 4x4 antiroll bar on the front and it was supposed to make the cars more stable but he said it drove like a bag of shit and that pushed the wheels further forward

I do stand to be corrected and this is only from my experiences.

Have you checked your bushes in case they are collapsing and giving the same effect?

Easy way to find out is to put a wheel brace on a wheel nut and try to tighten it when the wheel is on the floor. If the wheel moves, the bush is gone.

... or it could be something completely different.

I also know that some people have put Granada roll-bars on which DO push the wheels forward significantly.

If it has a 3 door roll bar these are longer ands so give less castor, which pushes the wheel further forward.
Makes the car better but a bit twitchier.

I will have 2 have a good look at mine later on. If the anti roll bar bushes that go into the bottom arm r fitted the wrong way round wud this cause the wheel not 2 b sitting straight.

i put the 24V arb onto my 4be and round corners it was great, but on the straight it was SOOOOOOOO sensitive you cuoldn't drive it for long periods of time without spazing out like a touretts sufferer

soon replaced it with some compression struts

the shapes of the arbs are also different, if you put a 4be one up against the 24V one you see that the 4be is more pronnoucend where the bends are and that the angle of the arb from when it goes into the tca is different, as well as it being about 3mm more splayed out

Well i wud say that my front wheels definatly sit 2 the front of the car instead of in the middle the front arches n if sure the back wheels look like they r sitting close 2 the back bumper 2. It drives cock on n the tyres arnt wearing off.

Mine sit 'forward', but as far as I know it's not poly'd, and its history is a little sketchy.

I've recently had new TCA bushes and track rod ends on, and it's still the same.

I've noticed that the front wheels of the 2WD saph are more standing forward than those of a 4x4 saph..

Yeah, glad it wasn't a stupid question

My ST200 had a front wheel that sat too far back in the arch. I was to try and realign the subframe to cure it but never got round to it
