As above guys can you buy the bearing separate or do you need to buy the full hub.

Had plenty of normal mk1 focus bearings seperate, you must be able to get rs ones. If not from a stealership than from a factors. Don't be scared of QH bearings. Had a focus bearing from ford once, was in a QH box inside a ford box. Extra 20 quid for a branded box

Rear wheel bearing
Hi all,
I just got a standard rear wheel bearing to replace my noisy one, and guess what -it doesn't fit (even though the part no. is the same on the auto directory). Standard ID of the bearing is 28mm and mine is 35mm.
New hub and bearing unit from FORD is £369 (!!!) so I continued to try replace mine by buying a separate bearing.
I tried pressing the bearing off, with no luck. Went up to 10T of force, and then heated the unit up to about 150degC, but still it did not budge. I can only assume that they require some custom tools to replace them. The space on the outside bearing race to press a new one in is also only about 1.5mm, so I would need to make a custom ring to press the new one on again...
Has anyone done this in the past to avoid having to lump out £369...?
Thanks!

Hate to disappoint ,but you need to visit your local ford dealer and hand over lots of cash ,these units are sealed some way, I tried myself to strip the races out .....with a massive fail ...I've never been beaten on any bearing changes before ,and I've changed bearings up to 3ft in diameter as a job ..I always change things like this in pair so had to stump up a sight load of cash !!!!!!!

Built into the hub. Over on RSOC many have tried and all failed to find a cheaper replacement

Ok thanks guys
Just another note, there was an SKF stamp on the casting of the hub, so I assume they made the whole unit. Your comments confirms that it's impossible the change!
Demon bearing it is, I hope it lasts...
