Default Cossie misfire

Hi everyone.

Ive finally bought a sapphire cossie after wanting one since I was a kid but its started to misfire when its sat at idle. Ive put new spark plugs in, checked the phase sensor and gaps but it all seems to be ok. I was told to clean the idle speed control valve which Ive done but thats made no change either. Can any one help?

Thanks Damien.

I don't know what else it could be. ive spoke to the previous owners and none of them had any problems with it. could it be anything to do with fueling?

If by misfire yuo mean just missing a beat occasionly at idle, then check the CO% first...they can be quite fussy. If its near standard up to stage 1, set it for around 2%...if tuned higher then tweek it up a little to nearer 3%.

Any garage that aint run by monkey's can do that for you...shouldnt cost a sight as its only a 5min job.

But really, your best bet regarding fueling set up will be a rolling road session...well worth the out lay as you'll proberbly redeem the cost in saved fuel in the long run

While the engine is running try disconnecting one injector plug at a time. If the engine tone/rpm changes then that Cyl is functioning, if the tone/rpm don’t change then that Cyl isn’t functioning properly. At least by doing this test you can possibly narrow it down to a particular Cyl.

If you do find out that it is a single Cyl, then it could be a number of things, faulty plug lead, faulty injector etc etc.

If there is no difference in the engine tone/rpm by doing this test, then it is likely what cossie604 suggested.

Ive cleaned the crank sensor and reset the gap but again no change. I'l adjust the CO% and see what happens.

had a similar prob, may need ya base idle re-setting..as the idle control valve only works when the engine is cold and when volts drop like when your driving with everything switched on.(ie lights/heater)wot did you use to clean the iscv ?
