Yea sounds to me like noisey tappets mate, when u say high mileage how high?!

 

I honestly have no clue - car was built from a shell and the engine was sourced - are noisy tappets harmless but annoying?? Should I drive it to work?

 

i drove around with noisy tappits for quite a while.. its a cams out job to replace them though so i had em done when the car was off the road.

 

I added some tappet/lifter detergent and it's helped bring it back to the way it was - just occasionally noisy. Now its more liveable and more quiet. It was doing my head in.

A:IF YES IT CAN TAKE A WHILE FOR THE TAPPETS TO FILL WITH OIL EVEN 1/2 HOUR SOMETIMES FOR THEM TO GO QUIET!
Q:IF THEY ARE STILL NOISEY AFTER THAT!
A:YOU MAY HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR CAMS ALSO AS THE LOPES MAY BE WORN ALSO!
