Default t5 gearbox

got a wine coming from my 2wd saff coss.its there when the clutch pedal is up,but gone when you press the clutch pedal down! iv taken the gearbox out today,and the clutch bearing sounds very dry when you spin it so iv got a new one to refit.. but iv never had a clutch bearing sound this bad! any idears?

It could b the input shaft bearing ?Is there a lot of sideways movement ?

Hope its not ! but there fairly easy to fit .

its got about 4mm mate.

it's the input shaft bearing mate.

think about it. when your foot is on the clutch, the input shaft is no longer turning, so the noise stops.

yeah this is what im thinking mate..iv never had a clutch bearing wine like this before.

if it's clutch release bearing, it would be the other way around. think about it.

when you have your foot on the clutch, the release bearing is turning. when you don't have the clutch pedal down, the release bearing is not turning, so can't make noise.
