how hard is it to weld sttel to alloy??

I'm afraid you can't.

You use AC current to weld aluminium, and DC current to weld stainless steel/mild steel. The only time you can weld aluminium using DC current is when the material is as thinner as a news paper.

Filler rod would also be a problem.....

its just my quick shift snapped and it needs welding.

its alloy and steel and was welded by the maufacurer so it must be possible or i must have something wrong??

graham...could you look at this thread...

it clearly shows the bits that need welded.

the rod and lever need weleded onto the top of the gearbox.

the 4 holes are the bits that have snapped

you can weld it but you would need to do a plasma weld to make the metals to stick together thats the only way but yes it is possible

Evo VIIIMR roof is welded so I think (apart from beeing rivetted).
