I've noticed that when driving my 1999 Focus Zetec the speedo needle will suddenly drop back to the off position for a few seconds before working again.
It hasn't happened that often, only a few times in the last 8 months or so.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Cheers,
Keith

was a recall on vss they renewed the design as they were giving this problem... try self testing cluster hold trip then switch ign on and keep trip pressed all guages ect will have a fit .. if u then let go of trip button u can scroll thru cluster test by pressing trip one push at a time this brings up charge rate ect and also digital speedo .. try roadtesting then and see if guage and digital speed drops if so then replaces vss
ps they are a shi.t to get out as roll pin get stuck in transaxle housing
good luck
