I had a similar problem with my turbo. What seemd to be happening was the starter motor was getting too hot and it was shorting out. Try finding a heat shield for the starter motor and see if that works. Or try wrapping it in heat resistant material.

check all the connections to the starter motor, if they are all corroded and dirty then clean them up. Failing that, next time it doesnt start give the started motor a couple of taps with a hammer and see if that works

you will hav to get under the front of the car and it is next to where the gearbox meets the block, you will see the big wires going into it

just found it, the red wire looks covered in some sort of black grease/dirt so will clean that, car starts every time at mo, because i am not driving for the engine to warm up, does the starter motor have anything to do in recharging the battery?

or make sure there is a small blue wire going to it and its connected to the alternator u will see it esily from underneath!

if its fitted just make sure its secure/ tight

if it is then your alternators on its way out !

mate it sounds to me like your starter motor is just plain fucked lol

it cant be charging problems if it starts when u leave it overnight. If the battery wasnt charging properly you wouldnt be able to start it at all once its flat.

ive got a mk3 cabby converted to S2 turbo, retaining the original loom, my battery lights glows ever so slightly but mine is all good. I take it u only notice the battery light at pitch balck night, cos its that dim?

Tellin u mate, starter motor, fact of life on CVH's, along with oil leaks, blue smoke, TAPPING.....good engines really NOT!!

do you have a volt meter??
