ECU Speed output on cossie - for Blitz Power Meter
Hi
I am trying to wire in a Blitz SBC Power Meter, which asks for the ECU Speed output cable. Does the cosworth ECU in a saphire cosworth have such an output?
If not, does anybody have a foggiest how I can give this gadget info on the speed of the vehicle - has anybody done this process, or am I the first?
Help!!?!?!?!!
If so, does anybody know which one it is!
Thanks all
JJ

No speed output from the Ecu, but if the Power Meter can use it you could always just mount a Prox sensor on one of the wheels to signal the speed but would need calibration through the unit so dependant if it allows you too.......

Thanks, I suspected as much!
I think it can be calibrated, as it is designed to work with any car, and there is no guarantee that the speed output of ECU's would be the same!!
Could you tell me where I would get a Prox sensor from, and how easy they are to fit?
Thanks

Where from:
I'd recommend Efector, Do a search for IFM Efector as i dont have a link at the moment.
Then its a case of working out which one you need...
My TC uses IE5238's.......
Mine were a piece of cake to fit, just make up a bracket to read off the back of the wheelstud bolts..........

Cool
thanks man
Out of curiosity, do you know if there is any reason why I couldnt piggy back the signal off one of the abs sensors? I think thats how the racelogic traction control works on other cars
That would be easier than fitting a new sensor?

You're right it does indeed, although im note sure how the TC Ecu calculates the speed internally........
Why not try it and see?
Do you have the manual for the Power Meter?
If not, try and get hold of one...
if you have, post here what it says about the sensor fitting...

beat me to it... was going to suggest picking up one of the abs sensors...
you would just need to know the numbber of teeth on teh rings on the drive shafts to calculate wheel speed.

Thanks CosRush, and all others
If you can find the data on the teeth, will make my life much easier!
I think that the gauge can calibrate itself, though I am not certain.
The manual for the SBCi Color I bought is in japanese! I am currently trying to source a UK translation. When I do, I will post for all.
I have previously fitted the SBC DC Boost controller, and it has transformed the car. Those days of spiked boost are well and truly behind me!!
Something good from our Japanese friends with their Supras, Subarus etc.
