ford sierra 2.0 DOHC EFi not starting
Hi,
I have a '91 J reg sierra 2.0 DOHC EFi with a manual gearbox, the car fails to start and this is whats happening:
starter motor turns over very slowly, I charged the battery and the same thing happened, I tried jump starting the car and the same happened, however, the jump leads were getting warm. I took the starter motor out of the car to get another one from a breakers yard, they tested the old starte and said it was OK, I put it back in the car and nothing changed.
can someone point me in the right direction for sorting this problem out.
Thanks.
Simon

It's either a poor 12V feed to the starter or poor earth between the engine and the body. Use one of your jump leads to earth the engine to the battery negative and try it. If no change, this time use the jump lead to connect the main starter feed to battery positive and try it - this will tell you where the problem is, and then it's simply a case of looking for loose bolts or damaged wiring.

Hi,
I tried that, I connected the negative jump lead from the engine bracket to the - on the batteyr, that didn't work, and then I tried the posotive jump lead from the + on the battery direct to the + on the starter, still the same, the starter turns over very slowly and the leads start to get warm.
