Default FRST - revs dropping down too low when coming to a stop

hello!

just had a piper cam fitted and run in - the revs every so often drop down very low and 2 stalled the car

the car hasnt been driven apart from taking to the garage before fitting and it was fine then.

is this normal and do i need to adjust something?

everything seems to be fine - it seems to be related to having the piper cam fitted

it also does it if i come to a stop without the brake

but not all the time

Unplug the ecu for a minimum of 20 mins to reset its KAM settings, then drive around for 10 (ish) miles under a variety of conditions to let the ecu learn about the new cam. If this doesn't work it could be your VSS has failed (or did they disturb it when they fitted the cam?).

KAM = the ecu's 'Keep Alive Memory' for storing error codes and adapative learning information.
VSS = vehicle speed sensor

disconnecting the battery for a few hours didnt make any difference

and it seems to be idling even worse now

does it just need the fueling/emmisions set up after the cam fitting?

try disconnecting the idle speed control valve ( with the engine running ) then reconnect and let the engine idle for ten minutes, the revs may be a little up or down during this time.

Check your MAP sensor is plugged in properly, its at the back mounted near the bulkhead.

What cam was in the engine and what one has gone in? Also did it have new followers ?

mine actually had this problem, doesnt do it anymore like, all i done was check all my hoses and choped one of them a little bit as it was a bit to long, one of the bolts holding my turbo in was a tad loose so tightend that up, i think im loosing air somewhere but unsure where, i turned up my rev's with the little screw in the arm that your accelerator goes to, ive added a pic to show you what i mean lol, i just turned mine up slightly.

on the picture where ive circled there a little crew under the bracket, you can make your rev's go up by turnin it but dont put them up to much

been to power engineering today to have the engine all setup and tested etc etc

he was playing about with what you circled so i think you were right

20% leakage in cylinder number 4 and a slight drop in compression

he also thinks i have a slight knock

so now i will be buying all the stuff for the zetec bottom end conversion
