remove the front compressor housing (held on with a ring of bolts from behind), you will then be able to get access to the 4 nuts holding the turbo to the manifold.

the benefit of having it on the bench would far outweigh the gain of avoiding taking it off the car..

You need to rebalance it and all that after disassemply. So you can't just raplace seals on the car.

but im going to be very carefull to mark up the orientation of all th parts in relation to each other sio that i can reassemble tham in the same way to avoid having to have it rebalanced,

much the same way, if u mark a tyre up where it fits in relations to the valve once its been balaned on the rim, you can remove the tyre and refit it in the same orientation and it is still balanced if u have it checked

the way i'm looking at it thoug, for 45 quid for the kit and a couple hours of my time, i'd much rather try it and see how it goes brfore spending 600 quid on a exchange turbo

2 days until teh write up
