Default Smoking Cosworth

Ive got a cosworth which I need a little bit of advice with. When I put my foot down just about when the turbo comes in there is constant smoke that blows out the back of it (blue/black colour). On start up there nothing but there always seems to be a lot of carbon in the back box. Does it need a rebuild or turbo? Its running standard boost.

Any help would be great, Thanks

blue= turbo

black=overfuelling.

Firstly, take the hose from the turbo to the intercooler off. if this is oily, the first port of call is the turbo needin replaced. if its not, then its rebuild time buddy

Theres a little bit of oil in the turbo pipe but nothing to bad really. How much are you looking at for a rebuild roughly?

it could still be your turbo...

there are oil seals on both sides of the compressor and if the seal on the exhaust side is gone then it will leak straight into the exhaust and blow smoke.

This is happening in my erst at the mo and the car is after a full rebuild..

best bet is to remove the eshaust at the turbo and check to see if there is any oil in there on the turbo around the fins on the compressor.

hope this helps...
