Default help needed asap

iv just went to change the phase sensor on my saff cos and the old one was that fucked one of the wires had corroded away,iv just replaced it with a brand new one and when i fired the car up it idles at over 2000,after i rev it it drops to 1000rpm then goes back up to 2000rpm.

It's like setting points.
Look at the shaft and you'll see 2 lugs on it, turn engine over until one of the lugs is in line with the phase sensor pick-up. the gap should be between 0.2 - 0.3 mm. If you can use plastic feelers as the sensor uses magnetism and metal blades may effect it (I have used them though).
If this doesn't cure it check you've got the wiring plug the right way round, although they usually don't start the wrong way round.

As above m8 and some feeler guage sets have a couple of brass feelers just for this sort of job

i have gapped it and still idling @2000rpm...i had the car set up about three months ago so the phase sensor must ov been knackerd then,is it possible he may of adjusted the car to suit the fucked sensor??also the car sounds a bit like it missing as if its only firing on three???help please

if it starts runs fine then after a few secons revs up to about 2K it could very well be the TPS out of ajustment, it shuold be in the middle of the elongated holes , and at the ecu with ignition on you should get 0.25 to 0.3 volts dc (assuming its a 4x4 PF09 sensor)

i gapped it to 0.4 and it runs how it used to ,but iv still got the problem of when iv drove for about 10min it cuts out and is a twat to start it takes ages to fire back up???

does the fuel pump run when it wont start, and is there a spark (have u checked) when it wont start, could be tdc sensor failing or ignition amp after it get warm,

thanx for the quick replys.(im running in and out of house!!!)the pump runs when it wont start,i have not checked if it isnt sparking but nxt time it cuts out i will,whats a tdc sensor and where is it ?
