Default loosing coolant

Hello, ive got 1.6 zetec in my fiesta and every couple of week the coolant level goes from max - min.

Now I cant see any possible leaks around the engine you know where it would crystallize, nor is the oil watery, so where is it going?

Cheers, Stevo

leave it running in ur drive for half an hour or so

If it leaks, check from there.

other than that, id assume it was burning it.......is the car spluttery on start up?? if yes, that could be ur prob (head gasket) check the pressure in the water system after ur half hour or so

its not so much spluttery, but it isnt idling rite, the revs will drop rite down then go up a tiny bit again for a couple minutes continuosly then once its warmed i blip the throttle a couple times and it goes.

But zetec's have idling probs in thier lifetime dont they?

Thanks Dave

sounds like head gasket mate.... but it could be the water pump leaking so check that first cos no one wants to do a head gasket only to find out they still have the same problem... check it by taking off the cam cover then starting the engine and looking for any moisture/rust marks behind the cam cover (the water pump pulley is on the same belt as the alternator).

good luck either way..
