Default ERST Suspension Spinning!!!!

I am in the process of uprating my suspension on my s2 but cant seem to get the passenger side 19mm nut of the top mount as it just spins the silver part of the strut round and round what is the best way of getting round this? Have tried holding and clamping it but just wont stay still.

I am uprating to koni adjustables if that helps?

Cheers

You need to put an allen key in the top of the strut piston to stop it spining

Or if it's too tight for the allen key then just get a big pair of vise grips and clamp them onto the push rod as hard as you can get them on and wedge it against the inner wing. The shocker will be fucked afterwards though.

Personnaly I'd use an impact gun but not everyone has that luxury.

I used the allen key to get the standard shock off now i just want to tughten the koni one up. I got it started but now it just spins. Is there no other way of doing it within damaging the shock?

Cheers

There is a small hexagon on top of the strut for a spanner. Use that. I know it's only small (8mm) but you should have a lock nut on the threads anyway stop it from coming undone.

i now find, its just easy to pop into a local tyre place etc, and get them to wizz them off with the airgun, and just hand tighten them down, saves damaging threads etc

dont go into a quickfit though as they wont help
