Default escort cossie kangrooing.....??

hiya guys got my cossie today and its all good bar 1 thing it kangeroos but only when it hits about 1bar???

the engine sounds and runs fine but when its on boost it is fine till it hits about 1bar then it jolts like my fiesta did on overboost???

i thought it could be the overboost or something?? but std small turbo's run 17psi dont they?? which is just over 1 bar,

the car has a K+N, mongoose, d/v, and the injectors are totally blk which is dodgy

basically the car was took in p/x by car craft and i think they have tried to remove some bits to std theres is a bill for

305bhp conversion
hybrid turbo
grp A gasket
mongoose
AP clutch
strut brace

the strut brace has been removed,turbo,exhaust,d/v and gasket are all on but i think the chip has been removed and possibly the injectors sprayed blk or put bak to std....???

can anyone tell me where the ecu is and where the chip should be and how i can tell if its chipped or not??? or if they can shed any light... i think it is overboost tho but just wanna be sure????

Mine did this when i got it and found out it was the amal valve not sure if the small turbos have one. They took the valve out completly.

As Ian I thing it sounds like the "Lectron" valve does't work. But I would'nt advice to remove it!! As this has been made to raise the boost presure with a better control than the wastgaste can do..
There is no overboost sensor the map sensor tell the ECU the boost presure and the ecu controle the lectron valve.
It looks like a relai inside you have a coil which when activate open a valve to release the presure from the wastgate actuator so he doesn't open a until the ecu wants to!
if it doesn't work (ECU safety, damaged loom or lectron valve) the presure remain the one preseted in the actuator about 1bar...

the ecu is in the passenger footwell, left side behind the plastic panel, pull it dowwn and out the clips and if its chipped there will be a "module" plugged into the port, you cant miss it and itll probably be secured with a bit of tape to make sure it doesnt come loose[small turbo model only]

so i need to check the amal valve then???? worth a try after calling a few tuners today i have come to the conclusion that the car is prob setup for a chip and it has been removed but the car is not here atm but i will check it this weekend... i have the std blk small turbo injectors but am unsure whether the fuel pump is upgraded which is hard to check.... also need to see if the map sensor has been upgraded????

so if someone can gimme a no off a 3 bar map sensor presume they must be the same i can see if its a std item or not??

but i think i shall just return the boost to std as it seems its not running std boost atm which is causing the overboost???

correct me if i'm wrong guys

also if someone could tell me where the amal valve is situated on the small turbo as i have a k+n fitted and i old fez rs had one so i know wot they look like just need to know where i'm looking
cheers Ad

The Lectron valve is situated on the intercooler on the hot side it's a cylinder with two hoses and a multiplug.
The MAP sensors do not have the same shape so it will be easy to find out wich one is fitted on your car (Il try to find some pictures @ noon to help)
I minded you had a T34 but as I understand now, yours is a T25. I know they are more difficulte to tune and most of them only get a Stage 1 conversion with the Ford ECU most tuner swap for the P8 when more power is requiered..
So what has been done and removed on tyour car is real mistery...
I agree with you if you can retourn the car to factory setup and it work then you mind what to do to upgrad it properly...

Sh... go on the burton web site and then open the 'Ignition & Electrical' link and hit 'Cosworth YB Engine sensors' you'll scroll down and find pictures of the two MAP sensors.
Sorry I can't do more...

adamski frst,
i have a small turbo model mate that has just had the 305 upgrade as stated take off the kick plate you will plainly see the chip you will also require an uprated fuel pressure regulator uprated fuel pump and the actuator pressure reset.
they do indeed have an amal valve that is situated on top of the intercooler opinions vary on wether to remove them or not as they do stop you just boosting until it goes bang but a correctly set up bleed valve with restrictors in the pipe to only allow required amount of boost and they can eliminate alot of problems with the valve.
you already have an exhaust i assume it has no cats in it as they have to be removed.
standard t25 runn 9psi and over boost to around 14 psi to allow greater over taking (i think).
hope this helps a bit but if i was you id keep the boost low as you will be probs doing damage already.

cheers bro that helps alot i have a t28 hybrid now too the cars in storage so i haven't checked the ecu for a chip but me reconing is that its been removed..... i have just ordered a new uprated pump and gonna order a press reg today as for the chip i will book the car in to be setup and be chipped at the same time, i think i may already have the uprated act as the turbo was new frm turbo technics yr ago and they usually put a decent one on... will also check the amal valve is there this weekend but i think it is basically the boost is over std you can tell... but the car has not been driven much so will be ok..

great who did you get the conversion with mate??and how much?? wot boost does it allow you to run???

basically i got quoted 520 with MSD for a chip actuator and fitting and setup...

GGR want 700

GGR seems expensive just don't know who's chip/setup will be better???

ive got grahme goode set up myself your in my opinion better off having the uprated fuel pump and regulator as we all know what lack of fuel means when on boost BANG!!! melting pistons ect but its entirely up to you there is good reports to be heard about both companies.my deciding factor were that G.G.R. returned my email when i was asking what service they could supply and the fact that they have alot of history behind them (touring car)but thats just my reason.it runs constant boost of 20 psi but over bossts for overtaking ect to 26psi.
the change from standard to this is absolutly amazing.
Highly recommended im sure you ll be happy which ever you choose.
