Default pinto ignition problem.....

Just started last night.....
Car seems ok up until over 100MPH in 5th when it starts spluttering and dying, (I was later told that yellow flames were coming out the exhaust when this was happening!).

Its ok if I back off a bit, I'm guessing some part of the ignition system isn't working right when its needing a good spark on heavy load, and the fuel's just igniting in the exhaust...

I replaced the dizzy cap and rotor arm just there with no change in syptoms.
Its a 2.0 pinto with a Lumenition kit.......

Any ideas people?!

Didn't have time to do any work under the bonnet today as I was driving everywhere......
but...

Whist caning it up a long hill I tried pulling the choke out when it started spluttering............. instantly stops spluttering!
(Still not as good as it should be, but not dying on its arse at least).

So, some kind of fuel shortage????
Any ideas much appreciated!

Whoop! Six and a half years later I got a reply!

I honestly cant remember what this problem ended up being, but I did run a Pinto in my Capri for a couple of years after this date!

just sounded like to much fuel of bad earth to the ignition system or even possibly behind on timing slightly?\
