ford sierra XR4X4 2.9 V6 EFI
hi can someone give me some more information about these cars please, i have been thinking about selling my sierra 2.0 DOHC to get one but i would like to know a little bit more about them before i do.
i have owned 5 sierras in the past so i know the general car very well but i have little knowledge of the V6 engine.
could you please tell me the standard BHP/tourqe outputs, what gearbox they use and drivetrain. i understand they have an LSD in the diff.
i currently have an MT75 gearbox on my sierra does the V6 use the same box..

Testing the future
i've got a 2.9i 4x4 estate. will be throwing all of the running gear out soon to replace it with stuff from my crashed cossie.
but it's been a good car. only cost me 200 euro 3 years ago and has only had an oil change once in that time. haven't needed to do anything else to it, and it's sweet as. it's got hydraulic tappets as well, so no need to keep adjusting rockers and all that shit.
it's all pretty much bulletproof. but the engine does not like to rev beyond 5500 really. but it pulls well up to then, and flies off the line with the 4x4 system if you're brutal with the clutch.
for the money, they're a great car. i was going to twin turbo mine, before the cossie was crashed.

I have a 2.9, with a 3 litre capri carb, on a carbed manifold, ported gas flowed, kent cams, lethal peice of kit min revs well past 5500
From wht i have heard form the 2.8 the 2.9 and the 3.0 the 2.9 is by far the most reliable

there is night and day difference between the 2 and the 2.9 is by far the superiour engine
but the 24V route is the easist way to get 200 odd brake into one and it's a zinging engine
main problems though are that if the centre diff will be screwed on your bog standard 4x4 you'll be using the fuel but not getting the grip
the brakes aren't really that good for the weight of the car
the engien bay can get a bit messy
the fan can play up leading ot overheating
and rotten radiators
but other than that, not a lot els goes worng with them

As mentioned above, don't beleive ford bullshit about bhp on the 2.8i, a exceptionally good one was 140, most averaged 128-132, my view gutless, thirsty, heavy, piss poor head design on the siamese port ones, but do respond exceptionally well to LPG and maxing ther spark advance when on it, my one(xr4i) went way better on gas than petrol, but was still way slower than my 2.1 pinto auto sierra.
