Default s2 rst metering head prob

last nite when driving home my car cut out, and wudnt fire agen. it turns over, but just wnt go. iv checked and iv got a gd spark, so its definitely a fuel issue.

i disconnected the fuel hose going into the metering head and wen i activated the fuel pump fuel came thru that hose. then i disconnected an injector hose frm an outlet frm the metering head, and no fuel is coming out.

so its clear iv got sum sort of blockage in the metering unit itself. im told that a float or a plunger of sum description in the unit can sumtimes stick causing no fuel to pass through. does anyone kno how to solve this problem? i cnt afford a new metering unti as iv just spent 1300 quid puttin the rs engine in my car, so if anyone can giv me a few steps as to wot to do to solve the fuel blockage it would b greatly appreciated.

In order for the fuel to come out of that injector feed the metering head plate must be depressed.
Try that then get back with the results.
While your there check to see if the intake from the metering head to the turbo hasnt collapsed or popped off or even splits as this may not draw the plate down enough to open the fuel line.
Also the injectors crack open at a certain pressure,if the pressures down(due to a lazy pump) they wont open hence no fuel.

i tried depressing the plate earlier and tried to start, it fired 4 a moment, then tried to idle, then just cut out like it was out of fuel. im assuming this means the pump is pumpin fuel as wel as it needs to, just the metering head isnt operating properly?

i have yet to inspect the intake frm the metering head to the turbo, i shall go and do this in a minute. im assuming if thats fine, im going to b in the market 4 a new metering head?

try turning it over whilst someone taps the top of the metering unit with something heavy, as the plunger could be stuck if not then strip the top off and take out the plunger and make sure everythings ok, done this recently on 16i and it fired up after that

cheers k

Tbh i doubt you have a sticky plunger, the fuel pressure is normal enough to force them down and obviously the plate being pulled in by the turbo forces it back up.This operation done a few times normally unsticks a dry metering unit(recently changed or not ran for a while). If it ran a little then cut out it sounds more like your running a wee bit too lean to me. Maybe it just need a damn good setup just to refresh the co2 setting. You could try turn the mixture adjustment 1/4 or 1/2 a turn clockwise to give it a little more fuel. If that doesnt do it turn it back to where it was.
Check all the pipes in the boost circuit as an air leak may give a similiar fault.
I would change the fuel filter at this point just as a precaution, get a clean bowl and empty the contents of the old filter in and check for debree.
