crank pulley quick ????
Help! I've been trying to get the crank pulley bolt undone, just two questions:
1, which way to undo, been trying to do it anticlock
2, put hand brake on, engaged 1st gear, put brake pedal lock on but the pulley still turns, can this do any damage to force the engine in the wrong direction.
Thanks

I tried a long bar with car in gear, handbrake and brakes on to no avail.
Then I used an impact driver, the bolt came out while the head was off and the car out of gear...
See if you can borrow one, you'll be greatful.
Only problem is, you need to take the rad out to get the driver in there.

I've already taken the rad out because i'm also curing an oil leak on the auxiliary shaft oil seal, so decided to do the cam belt as well.
can any one still answer the question about forcing the pulley's the wrong way while trying to undo the bolt, because I don know if you can damage anything by winding the engine backwards.

I might even make up a home made tool to do this properly because it works so well, it locks up the crank shaft pulley completely so you can put some proper force on that bastard bolt.Mind you it still needed a 18" braker bar with a 3 foot pole extension on the end of it to free the foooker.
