Default Escort TD cold start and conversion help

Hi. I've put the 90bhp 1.8 TD into my escort van shell, having a few issues.
i seem to have no cold start cable, does anybody know where this comes from and goes to on the pump?
Obviously after I have turned off my glow plugs the engine chucks out lots of white smoke, this is probably to do with the vanishing cold start cable and the fact that I have tons of air bubbles in the fuel line. Does anybody have a 3 pin plug for the fuel pump going? I changed my pump out of the tank because mine had rusted to bits but originally it was a 1 pin plug.

also recently it has decided to randomly hunt all over the revs, it was fine and didn't do this, it sometimes raises the revs up to about 2k.

the other issue is the cold start solenoid. It does click once when it has a live but not continually , should it do this? I think my cold start solenoid is on the back of my pump nearest the block with 2 wires out of it. Does anybody know what the huge one on the front of the pump is? This also has 2 wires out of it, if I connect this one up it hates starting.

Other problem is the turbo boost pressure. Have fitted a boost guage by t ing off the pipe in between the actuator and waste gate and I did wind the actuator arm in but the boost was only at 5 psi at 3k. Do I have a boost leak?

I think those are the only problems at the minute, haven't got round to fitting a fmi yet.

Any help would be great, hoping to get this on the road in the month for work.
