Starting issues
Hi everyone.
I have recently purchased an XR3i Cabriolet, 1990 SE 500 CVH Efi.
I am having a small issue with it starting and looking for some advice from people more knowledgeable than me.
First time of starting it it starts on the button but if I turn it off even after a few seconds, so it’s not a case of it getting warm, it turns over about 5-10 times before it starts.
However, if you turn it onto the ignition and you can hear the fuel pump prime, turn it off, back to ignition and off again about 4-5 times and then try and start it, it starts on the button again.
It runs fine apart from that and it’s no different whether the engine is hot or cold, the first start is on the button, each one after (unless it’s been an hour or so) is after 5-10 turns unless I do the ignition on and off thing a few times first then it’s on the button again.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Ideally needs the fuel pressure testing while it's not starting.
You could more than likely have a faulty fuel pump and it's losing residual pressure.
