300bhp from scratch for 2k is a very tall order depending on your abiltys.
Is yours the blue st170 that was on eBay ? Looked nice.
So turbo your engine.
St170 bottom end.
Zetec top end.
Then add a sprinkle of good used Rs parts and a stage 1 map for around 260bhp
Then you will want a new flywheel and clutch.
Bigger / hybrid turbo, bigger injectors, air to air intercooler re tune will get you to 300bhp but not for 2k

Hi thanks for info. Not it's not that blue RS. So now I'm thinking about 220-250 bhp. Would that be possible any engine builders on here?

If your paying some one, your money won't go far.
250 is a realistic starting point. This can be done with a standard engine, just about.
Big one is engine management. I like oem. Every one else will tell you aftermarket.
Dale is very well respected.

What's the base car. 2.0 Zetec or st170 ?
My project

I can do quite bit of work myself but it's what parts I need that will fit ect. I'm based in north east so bailey is to far away. It's 140 duration and is very slow feels like my Peugeot 1.4 diesel van. Would it be easier to buy second hand bottom end then put my head on to that?

Ok so if it has the 2.0 Duratec you have a mk2 and the Zetec is the trim spec and not the engine.
Forget the above about swapping bits of zetec.
The Duratec is a dam fine engine but it doesn't lend it self as easy to budget turbo ing.
You could look for a Mazda 3 MPs engine. It's a 2.3 turbo duratec

OK I see it's the duratec engine I just feel it's very slow. Will the 2.3 engine be much more trouble to fit ect. This is the car I've bought. Thanks

Really nice looking motor that.
Parts.
First is aftermarket engine management. Rather than worry about brand you need to find what the person you have mapping it likes to map. Some love omex, others Dta and so on.
For a basic ecu they start at about Ł600
You then need an engine wiring loom. A pro loom is not cheap. I make my own.
Mapping, Somthing I havnt had a chance to learn. But count on a minimum of Ł500.
You then need a turbo and manifold.
Bigger injectors. Bigger fuel pump. Fuel return system.
Intercooler and pipe work.
Arp conrod bolts and a descent set of bottom end bearings.
Keep it low pressure and you may be lucky with a standard engine. But you will be over your budget.
To get more you will need to forge the engine with rods and pistons.

Think I'm best off saving some money up. But I'm thinking at buying parts bit at a time. Bottom end first and upgrade that. I'm an aeroplane engineer by trade so building engines is normal day for me but what puts me off is getting right parts for engine.

I've seen this kit on eBay I'm wondering if it's a straight bolt on kit and run low boost say 8 psi so engine work wouldn't be needed what do you think?

if it's the 2.0 duratec lump, could the supercharger kit from the Fiesta st150 not be bolted on?
Keep the standard ecu with the supercharger reflash and be neater and less wiring fuckwittery surely
