Default Am i being paranoid???????????

Ok, the problem is, my 2wd cossie seems to be runnig hot. The temp gauge reads ok but after a drive (not a hard thrash!!) when i lift the bonnet the engine is well hot. The water in the header tank is boiling and it smells like you have just been caining it for miles. Its had a new rad and hoses so maybe theres an air lock?

It maybe just me being paranoid and not wanting another massive repair bill.........

Cheers for any help and sorry for being a spaz!!

Smudge.

if the tem gauge sys its right then it might be right.

Has the water been mixed with summer coolant, this helps with the temps.

run the engine at idle with the cap off the header tank , should allow any air leaks out, also put heaters on flat out. also if you can get the front of the car as high as you can that will help too.if it still gets hot and the water keeps boiling then i would start wondering if the head gasket is giving up asdave cos4x4, stated water being mixed that is a strong possibility. good luck mate

The Cosworth dashboard temperature gauge is very very very RARELY correct.

Most cars i get in are running over 100 degrees and teh gauge is less than half

Get it checked out before it melts down pal

Ment to add that its useing loads of water, around a lt a day. Think it might be a fooked water pump and or thermostat..... so will change both.
