I'm putting a puma engine into a mk1 fiesta.

All I need to know is how shall I use the fuel pump ? Some how cut it into the original fiesta tank ! Or put the puma tank into the fez ? What other options are there ? Maybe an inline pump like a escort rs turbo or sapphire cosworth ?


Let me know coz I'm havin no luck on other mk1 sites

Sound nice one mate. Wonder if u could just drop in the puma pump into that ?

 

Two options spring to mind, Europe had a fezza mk2 1.4injection in general sale, so use an injection tank, with an inline pump
Or use a lift pump into a swirl pot set up.

Pretty much any external fuel pump will do that's meant for a 1.8/2.0 engine, you don't need to limit yourself to an ford item, get one from a cavalier (just an example) or anything with an external pump.

I'm guessing when you say how am I going to do the clutch u mean its hydrolic ?
I've not looked into it that far to be far I didn't even know it was. Thought it would be cable
And as for drive shafts I ha no idea yet. Cut and sleeve the puma ones ?

What did u do for the the above ? It is much work ? I just want this project to be as cheap as poss

All the answers are there,
Hydraulic clutch on puma, not cable.. I made xr2 and puma stuff work, easy to do.
Driveshafts, used xrtwo and swapped the tri lobe at gearbox end, pics all there... Lot of work, any advice pm me I'll answer wot u need

With all the effort u put in do u reckon it's worth it ? Or shall I just go zetec ? I've heard these are easier to fit ?

 

Why use the xr2 drive shafts ? Couldn't I just use mine. Or is it coz the xr is 5 speed maybe ?

 

Zetec is way easier, lots more info and all bits are bolt on or available.
Xr2 drivers shaft is one piece others are two piece not as good for power down on road. It's up to u, the Zetec is an engine that needs revved and is linear in how the power climbs the rev range, I like the light and quicker revving puma/Yamaha engine for the road, if it's track car then Zetec all the way.
