si problem
my mates got an m-reg si 1.4 and hes having a problem with his clutch. when he dips it, sometimes it just makes a loud click and while it still engages the clutch, gear change is a bit crunchier than it ought to be. has anyone ever come across this before? really dont have a clue cos its not all the time either, it just seems fine one minute, and sh*te the next. any help greatly appreciated lads.
His clutch pedal ratchet is shagged. Its what takes up cable slack, its a bugger to change but not expensive. He really wants to get it done asap before it completely goes and his clutch pedal goes straight to the floor.
thankyou boys, most helpful. makes sense, cos he had a look and his clutch cable seemed a bit slack, but not majorly and its only been on car a few weeks. does the mk6 escort one need much altering like, and how difficult is it? or will it all become clear when we set about it. also, ford will stock the part wont they?
you have to take the drivers seat out to change it.they did fit the manual adjuster to the n reg si feistas these are alot better but i would recommend takeing the dash out if you arnt familier with doing these (good luck)
