Default Mk2 Escort Brake Problem after upgrade Calipers

I have a left hand drive Mk2 escort 1.3 ghir and have fitted Prinsess 4 pot calipers up front with Capri Disks, in preparation for a engine swap
I have also fitted 3 new braided hoses and a couple of brake lines that looked suspect, but now I have very low peddle biting, I have bled the whole system with a power bleeder but its still soft
So I can only presume that I need to swap the servo or master cylinder or both.
Any ideas?????

Thanks Steve

I think you are correct in that you may have to fit a bigger master cylinder, as you are now trying to move 8 pistons as opposed to the 4 pistons in your old calipers, and the 8 might have more surface area requiring more fluid for the same distance travelled?

I'm sure there is a ratio calculator somewhere on the net, or a more knowledgeable person will be along to verify our thoughts

Or you have not bled all the air out!!

If you pump the pedal does it bite higher?

Either air in the system or as i found when i fitted AP's with 4 large pistons the master cylinder needed to be changed.
More fluid was required to fill the bigger pistons, i did have a pedal box with no servo on mine.

Im sure its going to be a master cylinder problem
any ideas where I can get a bigger M/C
Can I pull one off any other kind ford or will it have to be off a Mk2 escort? if so any idea what model coz I thought they all used M16 calipers so wont the M/C be the same????

Cheers Scott

I think its all down to ratio. Have you tried rallydesign? They used to sell Princess 4 pots, so they may know what MC you will require. Have been very helpful over the phone in the past.

I think I might have got to the bottom of the problem

I jumped in the car the other morning and started the car and pressed the peddle a couple of times and the travel was about half way down and firm every time i pressed the peddle, peddle wasn't creeping up so im sure no air is getting in but I did have the handbrake on so im thinking the rear shoes need adjusting??? I'll try again with the handbrake off before I start to see if the peddle sinks to the bottom when pressed.

Cheers Steve

Think the RS2000 one is bigger and should do the job or perhaps a 2.8 capri if it will fit.
