Default heater problems ??

Hi guys am having heater problems on my mk5 fiesta electronically I think it's fine it just sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't it's very sluggish and there is a knocking from inside the heater .... a good wack on the side seems to kick start it and make it work ... Just wondering if this is a common problem and is it worth trying to fix our should I just buy a replacement ..... cheers

sounds like a the motor is at fault if a whack sorts it, common things on these are not normally the motor tbh as its usually the resistor pack or heater valve but tapping either of those wont do anything so simply sounds like a duff motor, just a few quid in any decent scrappy
