Default 3 DR running probs

Hi
My 3 dr aint runnning to good and takes a while to start, misses when being driven, sometimes ticks over sometimes not, ive changed all sensors, converted to wasted spark and still the problem is there. One thing i have noticed is Ive fitted an after market fuel regulator with a gauge (and yes its the right way round) when i turn on the ignition theres no pressure showing is this correct? When the car eventuallly starts it sits nice at 3 bar at idle but runs like a bag of spanners when driven.
Any help appreciated.

When you key on the pump should prime and take the fuel pressure up to 3.5 bar. Have you got a suitable chip installed? Is the co set correctly? Is the crank/cam phasing correct to within 5 degrees? Are plug gaps correct?

The car was mapped by Enhanced Performance a couple of years ago and ran fine apart from a miss, the cars been stood a while, im gonna check fuel pump to see if its siezed while the cars not moved cos theres deffo no noise from it and the system dosnt get any pressure.

The multi meter reads 0.55 at the fuel pump end when placed into the red wire with the ignition at the on position. When switched to continuity and placed on the two prongs on the fuel pump it dosnt beep. is there any way to run wire straight from the battery to test the pump dont wanna hurt anything.
thanks in advance.

yes you could go direct from the battery to check your pump mate ,but i would try put the old fpr on to see if it runs ok .what make is the new fpr as some of them are not very reliable especially if its a ebay cheapie i have heard before

yes fresh juice in it, (havent stopped puttin juice in it its using loads) its pushing 11 on the meter when i crank the engine with the wires off. I havent changed the relay as its clicking as it should when the ignition is turned on. The pump never clicks hums or sounds like it does anything. ive just ran a live feed to the pump and it spins and pressurizes the system. What voltage should the red wire be delivering at the fuel pump,
Cheers

You want battery voltage at the pump . Is the battery charged up enough as 11 volts is not good.

When i take a reading at the battery it shows 12.5v. i managed to get the pump to prime and this showed pressure at the regulator for the few seconds the pump primed and then dropped to zero, my knowledge isnt the best and i dont know if the gauge should be reading the 3.5 bar all the time after priming.
thanks for the replies

Firstly, your alternator should be outputting 13.8v, so you have a problem there to investigate.

The pump should prime for anything between 0.5 and 3 seconds then switch off, the fuel pressure will slowly drop from the point it switches off to the point you crank.
The valve responsible for holding this pressure is screwed into the output end of your fuel pump.

Was the engine working fine until you swopped the FPR? Some of the ones I see through my doors are miles out!

Secondly, was the old FPR running at a different pressure?
If so, your co screw setup will now be totally wrong too, which will only hinder your progress, but that said, it should still start and run.
