had my little 2005 fiesta st for a couple of months now. Only got 45k on the clock. Great little car but all of a sudden its developed very heavy steering. (alot heavier than any other car iv driven)

-put it in for a steering fluid change as it was pitch black but the steering feels pretty much the same
- had a garage strip it down and they couldnt find any leaks or damage
- had tracking and tyres checked and that was fine too
- car sailed its mot this month no bother
- my text checked it for any previous accidents and it was clear

nobody can seem to work out why it is so heavy or is it just naturally heavy in this car ? i have not driven another st so i cant compare

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Steering rack valves messing about?

Is it heavy in both directions, is the pump pumping as required?

It is equally heavy on both sides and when on full lock its makes a sqeeling noise which iv been told by a mechanic at peoples ford is just the pump pumping on full lock
