1300 hcs sniff
Hello there,
I am the pround owner of a 1300 mk5 escort. It's a great wee run-about but it's just not fast enuff . Im only 18 and con't afford the insurance on a RS, not even an XR2... . I was wondering if there are any ways of gaining performance on the engine (short of removing the back seats but thats too inpractical). i have had the engine rebuilt and boared out to something along the lines of 1400cc but its still slow as a week in the jail. I have been told to consider a set of twin choke webbers but I hear that it will only give power gain at 5000+ rpm.. can someone plz help??
cheers in adv
Whisp.
p.s the falkirk wheel meet was awesome, i want a 3door cossie!!

Your not gonna get much out of a hcs mate. TBH i wouldnt of bothered with the rebuild, probably would have been better to invest in a 1.6 or something. if you get twin carbs you probably wont see much difference, nice sound, can say bye bye to fuel economy but then again there one of those mods you can move onto your next car so its simply a matter of "do you want to spend all this money on something that will pump out 100bhp if it was tuned to the max or would you rather save your cash, wait a while an get something a bit special in a year or two. or as i said before drop a 1.6 in
