Default Blacktop alternator set up

Right ive read various different opinnions on what alternator bracket etc is required. But after some more input as im not 100% sure.
Got a 2litre blacktop zetec

I've got an underhung bracket on mine with an extra drop bracket/plate. I bought it with the engine, i believe it was an ebay jobbie.

Can you not use the original alternator placement with an idler?

Unsure if there will be enough room to run it at the back of the engine

I've got a blacktop in my mk4, a frst bracket and alt I couldn't get the arb bracket back on so that was a waste of time.

I got the bracket mentioned earlier and used the erst alt and bracket. plenty of room for the arb now.
