Urgen help - RST Rebuild
My friend is rebuilding an RS Turbo engine for me. Using standard 0.5mm oversize pistons, and i have had the block re-bored, new shells etc. He has built it up using a crank for an XR3i because he thought they were the same.
The problem started last night when about to fit a new oil pump, it was completely wrong - then i read that they changed in 1986, and the engine block he is using must be a 1986 block.
Then when he moved the crank so pistons 2 and 3 were at TDC, the pistons are a few mm over the top of the block, so its not completely flush, - is this ok. Or could the crank be different, or could the pistons be different as i ordered them for a 1990 car, although the engine we are using is a 1986.
So basically i need to know is an XR3i crank the same as a RST, and is there only one set of standard pistons available for the RST.
Please help ASAP!!
