Default CVH head woes!

Hey all, I have an late '86 D plate Escort XR3i cabriolet - it's one of the first mk4's.
I bought it from a neighbour who has had it since it was three years old and he was going to scrap it, and as seen as it's never seen a wet day, I thought i'd save it and have some summer fun in it!

Obviously, the car is an early MFI engine.. not EFI

Now comes the problem - I've been given a head, which i've had rebuilt and skimmed, and the part number is 81sm6090bra - from this I can tell it's an earlyish head, and the guy I got it from said it either came from a mk2 xr2 or an RS1600i.

The guy doing the work has started to put the engine together, and he's said there is nowhere for the injectors to go in the block, so he thinks it's for carb?

I think i'm answering my own question here, but this part number, and this head, *should* be compatible with MFI and Carb's right? If so how comes there are no injector holes in the block lol

Cheers guys - I think it was a bit of a silly question really because I wasn't with the car at the time of asking the question and I only really had a quick look!

That's a relief, means I should be able to get her on the road quicker than I expected. - Was a suprise the head I have is so early though!

James.

Seems like a silly question but will this head be okay for unleaded? sure I heard somewhere that all CVH's would run okay on unleaded fuel..? ta

An 81sm head won't as standard. Unless the valve seats were changed during the refurb
