Duratec bell housings
Hi guys, this is my first post here, I'm a Vw guy tbh but am building a kit car through work that's using a 1600 duratec so looking for a bit of advice!
The current issue we have is trying to get the engine onto the type 9 box. I've found a few online places that sell a bell housing that replaces the cast iron sierra bell housing, but these either have very little information or say they only fit 1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 duratec engines.
Is the bolt pattern on the bell housing for the 1.6 different to the rest of the duratec range?
Thanks in advance

Duratec means nothing (or practically any petrol Ford engine from 1.3 to 6L/ 1993 to present day) -

if it has a black plastic cover over a toothed rubber belt its a 1600 sigma (badged as a duratec or zetec-se depending on the donor car) and will fit the standard type 9 bell housing.
if its got a metal timing cover over a chain you need a duratec 1.8/2.0/2.3 bellhousing.
however ford never used the 1600 variant of the proper duratec with a timing change. so its 99% a sigma, so you should be fine with the standard iron bellhousing

Thanks for the replies.
It has got a black plastic cover and belt but it doesn't fit the type 9? The top two bolt holes line up but the rest are all ever so slightly off, only by 5mm in most cases! Wouldn't have minded if they were properly out as we could make a smudge plate but they're just too close
I will try and get a picture of the engine tomorrow
